More details emerge on 2027 MotoGP calendar with two contract extensions

The competition has previously announced that the season will once again begin at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand. The inaugural weekend will take place from March 5 to 7, during the first weekend of the month.

The final race of the new season will once again be the Valencian Grand Prix at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo near Cheste. The season finale will take place on November 28.

Ahead of today, 20 circuits already had contracts in place for the upcoming campaign. Today, the competition announced two further contract extensions.

To begin with, Portimao will not only host a Formula 1 race during the next two years, but the Portuguese track will also remain on the MotoGP calendar. Its contract has been extended until the end of the 2029 season.

Together with that, Mugello will continue to host the Italian Grand Prix. The legendary track has now secured its place on the calendar until the end of the 2031 season.

The complete calendar for the upcoming MotoGP campaign is set to be announced on Friday, September 25.

The competition will not return to the Balaton Park Circuit for a third consecutive year, despite the track originally being included on the schedule. This comes after a new promoter had to step in just weeks before this year's race.

The Aragon circuit will host its final race weekend next year as a permanent fixture on the calendar. From 2028 to 2031, it will instead serve as a backup option for the competition.

Another new circuit that has already been announced is the Autodromo Oscar y Juan Galvez in Buenos Aires, which will host the Argentinian Grand Prix's return after a one-year absence from the MotoGP calendar in the South American country.
