Future Rossi rider undergoes surgery again ahead of Japan weekend

Aldeguer has experienced a difficult 2026 season in MotoGP, riddled with injuries. He already had to skip the season-opening round in Thailand after a crash during pre-season testing in Valencia. Moreover, he was then forced to miss another three Grands Prix at TT Assen, the Sachsenring, and Silverstone before returning in Aragon.

Aldeguer has now undergone another operation, as he shared on social media. The goal of the latest procedure was to begin removing the metalwork from his left leg from previous surgeries, which had been causing him pain.

The young Spaniard also shared a photo from the hospital on social media. "Quick pit stop," he wrote. He later posted that he is now back home recovering.

After the current season, Aldeguer will remain with a Ducati satellite team, but will join Valentino Rossi's VR46 outfit from Gresini Racing. He will be paired up with this year's World Superbike champion, Nicolo Bulega.

Previously, while discussing his relationship with the MotoGP legend, Aldeguer told Onda Regional de Murcia that the Italian can be a bit 'intimidating'.

He added: "I've been told I can call him and rely on him for anything related to competitiveness. There are few people better suited to help me, and I should take advantage of it. His guidance will allow me to grow and make me a better driver. He'll help me see things more deeply."

2020 MotoGP world champion Joan Mir will not compete at Honda's home race in Motegi next week, having once again been ruled out. After being replaced by Takaaki Nakagami at the Red Bull Ring, Somkiat Chantra will return to action for Honda at the Japanese Grand Prix.

Meanwhile, Jorge Martin decided against having surgery after the Austrian Grand Prix. The championship leader said he felt better on the bike than he had at Misano.
