Sebastian Vettel will remain active for Aston Martin in 2022 and his fellow countryman Ralf Schumacher is very happy about that. However, the former Formula 1 driver would also have understood if Vettel had quit.

In recent weeks there have been rumours about a possible departure of Vettel. Things were not going well at Aston Martin and the team would like to find a new driver. However, none of these rumours were true, because on Thursday it was announced that Vettel and Lance Stroll will continue to be the drivers for Aston Martin in 2022.

Vettel stays in F1

''I am very happy that Sebastian has made this decision. It is good for Formula 1 worldwide. Losing a personality and a champion like Sebastian Vettel would be a shame for the entire sport," the German said according to Speedweek.com.

Yet Ralf also had his reservations about Vettel's future. ''We know how important the environment is to him, and that's good, but at Zandvoort, he was really in a bad mood with all the environmental issues going on there. I really had doubts then and wondered if maybe he was going to spend more time with his family," Schumacher concludes.
