Qualifying for the
British Grand Prix took place in a completely new format. For the first time, qualifying was done in the form of a sprint race, but the results were not without modifications.
A number of drivers, including
Carlos Sainz and
George Russell, were required to report to the stewards. Russell was penalised for the incident that took place during the sprint race between him and Sainz and gets a grid penalty of three places. As a result, he has lost his top 10 position on the grid and will have to start from 12th.
Verstappen takes pole position
At the front of the race, it was between
Lewis Hamilton and
Max Verstappen. Hamilton was the fastest man on track during Friday's qualifying session, but Verstappen ran away with first place in the sprint race. He will therefore start from pole position, with Hamilton next to him in second.
The second row is formed by
Valtteri Bottas and
Charles Leclerc, who did a great job with his
Ferrari. Both
McLaren drivers were also well placed, with the two of them on the third row of the grid.
