After qualifying, George Russell was summoned to the stewards over a pit lane incident. The Briton was released by his team but failed to spot Verstappen approaching. Russell had to report at 17:45, and the stewards have now issued their decision.
George Russell gets off scot-free, as the stewards have given the Brit a reprimand. As a result, Max Verstappen will not move up a place and will have to start the race from the seventh position. This is the stewards' full verdict.
‘’Car 63 attempted to enter the fastlane after leaving the garage, while other cars were approaching the fastlane and therefore had to stop at an angle. Russell could not see the other cars on the fastlanes. The driver tried to reach the team via radio, but accidentally slipped the clutch, causing the car to jump forward. The team delegate admitted that the team could have managed the situation better.’’
