Ocon: I have a completely different team around me

Esteban Ocon has had a good start to the season at Alpine F1 Team. The young Frenchman is happy with the new structure and approach since the team changed its name from Renault to Alpine.

Alpine goes through a lot of change

"I have a completely different team around me", says Ocon in conversation with the Spanish Marca. "A lot of changes were made during the winter and the approach is very different, but more to my liking."

The biggest change is the departure of team boss Cyril Abiteboul. Alpine hasn't hired a real replacement, instead, Davide Brivio and Marcin Budkowski share the role of team leader. In addition, Ocon also has to deal with a new teammate: two-time world champion Fernando Alonso.

Team working closely together

"We are currently building up to some good weekends and I feel very comfortable in the team. I am better integrated, much better than last year. I know what I need from the car and when I put the numbers on paper, the engineers know what to put in the car," concludes Ocon.
