After the Manor F1 Team, the last remaining team of the newcomers in 2010, left, Formula 1 has been down to just ten teams for some time now. That is actually considered the minimum, but for the time being this will not change. Stefano Domenicali is willing to make concessions to attract new teams, however.

He would consider exempting a new team from the so-called 'anti-dilution fee', according to RaceFans.net. This is an entry fee of 200 million dollars for new teams. This fee was introduced after it was announced that the prize pool would be shared among all teams, not just the top ten. The 200 million therefore serves to compensate for the 'losses' of the existing teams.

Uncertainty about certain situations

Of course, this is not an attractive offer for potential F1 teams. New investors are already a few hundred million lighter before they have even built a car. Stefano Domenicali of Liberty Media therefore now says that this amount can be waived in certain situations.

Domenicali previously defended the amount because it would represent the value of a team that can be competitive. In other words, a team that cannot pay this amount of money has no business in Formula 1.

Panthera, one of the parties interested in entering F1, says it is happy with the concessions Domenicali is now willing to make, but wants more clarity on the specific situations in which they can be exempted from this amount.
