Valtteri Bottas used the momentum from his race win in Russia to top the timesheet in FP3 with a 1.26.225. It was a busy session after the cancellation of FP1 and FP2 but it was the Finn who stayed ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton who came in P2 ahead of Charles Leclerc in P3.
The poor weather on Friday meant that there was no running in FP1 and FP2. Teams lost valuable time on the track and therefore had to make the most of the 1-hour session they got on Saturday morning. Instead of the usual running in FP3, teams were out on track from the start to the end of the session trying to gather as much data as they could ahead of qualifying and the race.
It was easy to tell that this was the first time at the circuit since 2013 as there were lots of moments throughout the session. Drivers seemingly struggled with the cold temperatures and there were a handful of incidents when grip was lost but there weren't any major incidents.
The biggest news story came from the Racing Point garage. Lance Stroll sat the session out as he was feeling unwell. It is not clear whether he will be able to drive in qualifying or the race and there was much hype after Nico Hulkenberg announced his arrival at the track on social media. Could the German sit in and drive for Racing Point once again this season?
