F1: Drive to Survive - what topics will be shown in season 2

We previously mentioned how F1: Drive to Survive will feature an episode which focusses on Mercedes' nightmare German Grand Prix, but producer Paul Martin has now revealed more details from the upcoming season.

After the massive success of season 1, Netflix wisely decided to extend the show for a second season. The release date was recently confirmed to be on February 28th, 2020. Season 2, which covers 2019 in F1, will be a series full of drama, excitement and chaos.

By answering questions from fans on Twitter, producer Paul Martin confirmed some interesting facts about the new season:

  • The bizarre conclusion of the Brazilian Grand Prix, with Pierre Gasly and Carlos Sainz getting maiden podiums, was captured very well by the Netflix crew.
  • The tragic passing of Anthoine Hubert will be discussed. It had a big influence on the rest of the season and on Gasly in particular.
  • One of last season's most popular figures, Guenther Steiner, will be on camera plenty more in season 2.
  • Sebastian Vettel is not active on social media and his fans don't have much knowledge about his personal life. Drive to Survive will show the German's hobbies and his love for music.
  • Lewis Hamilton will show a lesser-known side of himself.
  • Daniel Ricciardo will feature regularly, as will the rest of midfield.
  • The rookies of 2019 will feature prominently.

Martin also said Netflix have adopted a better way of filming. This will lead to more realism of all the chaos and confusion that comes up in F1.
