Sainz pleased with contract certainty at McLaren

Carlos Sainz's career has begun with short stints at Toro Rosso and Renault before moving to McLaren for the 2019 season and the Spaniard is pleased to have a bit security and now look forward, rather than back.

During his time at Toro Rosso and Renault, the 25-year-old was largely dealt with short-term contracts that meant he wasn't confident about his future previously. 

 "I think that stability has given me the opportunity to show some more of the new Carlos that people in the paddock or in general might not have seen.

 "I have never had that certainty (a contract for several years, ed.). So even if you don't feel it at all and you don't want to think about it, put that pressure on getting results right away is there. That is different now."
