Vettel doesn't think "it was anyone's fault" Leclerc couldn't start Q3 flying lap

After his teammate Charles Leclerc failed to set a second lap in Q3 of qualifying at the Yas Marina Circuit on Saturday, Ferrari star Sebastian Vettel doesn't think anyone was at fault for this, saying there were multiple cars ahead holding him up as well.

Vettel and Leclerc completed their out laps in that order. However, in front of the German was the RB15 of Alex Albon and another McLaren, forcing Vettel and therefore Leclerc to slow down. 

At the end of this train, the Monegasque crossed the line about a second after the Q3 clock was on 0:00, meaning he didn't have a second chance for the second time this season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Vettel explained he wasn't at fault for this, nor was anyone else.

"I think Albon had a McLaren in front of him, so I don't think it was anyone's fault [that Leclerc couldn't start his lap]," the 32-year-old said.

As Ferrari have still never been on the front row at the Yas Marina Circuit, Vettel believes it's just a very bad track for the Italian team, although he held up his hands as well as he admitted his lap had a mistake in it.

"This is probably a bad track for us. It was just a pity. My tyres were cold and I lost it in the first corner. Let’s try and see for what happens tomorrow."
