Alfa Romeo approaching the last four races "with confidence"

Alfa Romeo have a fight on their hands during the final four races of the 2019 F1 season. Between themselves and Haas, there is just a seven-point gap. A gap which team boss Fred Vasseur will be keen to open this weekend in Mexico.

Vasseur is confident Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi have the tools to do just that in not only the race that will take place some 2,000m above sea level this weekend but also events in America, Brazil and Abu Dhabi.

"We approach the final four races of the season with the confidence we can be in the battle for points at each of these events. Everyone in the team is working hard, both at the factory and at the track, to make sure we extract all of our potentials," Vasseur said.

His rival team boss, Guenther Steiner has already warned that Haas will struggle with the high altitude and cooling issues. Vasseur points this out but believes his team will be able to put the car in the right modes in order to combat this.

"Mexico is a track with unique characteristics - it's bumpy, the altitude and the thin air have a strong effect on the car and you have very long straights and a slow and twisty middle sector. The practice sessions will be key to set up the car properly for the rest of the weekend, but I think we will be able to show what we can do," he added.
