Lance Stroll has revealed how much his fourth-place finish at the German Grand Prix means to the SportPesa Racing Point team, but also picked out the moment he felt he missed out on a podium place.

Stroll had been leading the race at one point but eventually dropped back to finish in fourth for his highest finish of the season. It was a good weekend all around for Stroll who made it out of Q1 for the first time since last season and once again proved his race pace in the rain.

After the race Stroll pinpointed where he felt he missed out on a podium.

"I think a critical moment was the mistake I made, in turn, eight on my second or third lap on slicks, which is when Daniil [Kvyat] managed to get ahead of me," Stroll said on the SportPesa Racing Point website.

"We tried our best to keep the quicker cars behind, but the podium was just out of reach."

Stroll also spoke about how much the result meant to the team. His P4 finish was the constructors' first points since Canada and only the second points finish since Baku.

"Today’s race shows why you should never give up because it’s never over until it’s over. It’s great to see how much this result means to the team and it was so special to see the crew celebrating on the pit wall when I crossed the line.

"This important result is for everyone in the team and we will enjoy this moment," Stroll added.
