Robert Kubica says he will not give up despite enduring a difficult return to Formula 1 with Williams Racing.

The Pole made his return to the sport after his horrific rally accident in 2011 in which he sustained life-changing injuries and lost partial use of his right arm.

Despite spending much of his time racing this season at the back of the field with teammate George Russell, Kubica admitted that he would rather endure the pain of an uncompetitive car than sit on the sidelines any longer.

"The season isn't over yet, we've only just had the fifth grand prix," he told the Polish newspaper Puls Biznesu.

"Unfortunately, in this difficult situation, we often forget - and even I forget as well - about what I managed to achieve.

"Of course everyone including myself would like us to have better results. That would make things easier for me.

"But as I have said, it is much better to be here than to be watching the races on television."

Kubica and Russell have been stuck with a highly uncompetitive and difficult car in the FW42, only hindered further by missing the first two days of testing due to parts shortages.

Since testing, the team has struggled to improve to a serious degree, only making a noticeable step forward with the updates brought by the Grove-based team to the Spanish Grand Prix over a week ago.
