George Russell had a scare during Q1 of British Grand Prix qualifying but, fortunately for him, was able to recover and continue his session.
The Briton ran unusually wide midway through Turn 6, making light contact with the barriers but avoiding any significant damage. He was able to drive out of the gravel and return to the pits.
It remains to be seen whether his W17 has sustained enough damage to prevent him from heading back out, or if he will be able to set a lap time and progress to Q2.
Update: After a brief inspection in the pits, Russell was able to head back out and complete a lap, comfortably securing his place in Q2.
