Logan Sargeant skidded off the track during the third free practice session at Zandvoort. It was a huge blow for the American, who saw his Williams go up in flames even before he got out of the car. Many marshals and fire extinguishers had to be called in to extinguish the Williams car. Fortunately, Sargeant is okay.
The Williams driver drove over the grass on exiting the Hugenholtz corner and crashed hard into the wall. The whole car was smashed to pieces after Sargeant's crash. Oscar Piastri was driving behind and narrowly escaped. The team will have to do considerable repair work. "I'm okay," Sargeant told the team radio.
It seems unlikely that the Williams car will be repaired in time for qualifying on Saturday afternoon. The mechanics have just three hours to repair the car entirely.

Drivers come to the rescue on the radio after horror crash

The red flags came out, but some drivers were still on the track. On their way back to the pits, they slowly passed the scene of the accident. That included George Russell, who tried to alert the American driver of the fire at the back of the car. The Mercedes driver waved his hand as he drove by and reported on the radio: "He is on fire; he needs to jump out."
Charles Leclerc and Daniel Ricciardo also alerted the incident over the team radio, with the Australian calling for some of the fire marshalls to come onto the track.
