Racing Point Force India driver Sergio Pérez has explained that the team needs to work together as a collective to extract as much performance as possible from both cars, as the Mexican will team up with the young Lance Stroll.

Stroll was recently announced as Racing Point's (is that what we're calling them now?) second driver, as his father Lawrence lead the team of investors who took ownership of the team in July.

The Canadian billionaire is very ambitious, as he announced he wants to be competing for a top three spot in the constructors' championship. Force India has always been the team with the smallest budget, but yet they secured back-to-back fourth-place finishes in the constructors' in 2016 and 2017. Now that they have the financial backing of Stroll, Pérez thinks the team can look to make the next step.

"I don't think so," Pérez replied when asked by Reuters whether Stroll could compromise the operation.

"It’s in the interests of everyone, including the team owners that this team is a successful team.

“The investment that they’ve done, it’s successful, so for that we need both cars as strong as possible. We both have to work very hard, we both have to work together to bring the team as forward as possible. We are a team now and we just have to work like that.”
