Norris jokes with Sainz after his win: 'I'll have it removed too!'

A fortnight ago he was still in hospital, but now Carlos Sainz has already won the Australian Grand Prix. Things can go fast in the life of a Formula 1 driver. Lando Norris, who finished third in the race, congratulated his former teammate on Instagram, learning from the way Sainz won.

It was a memorable victory for the 29-year-old Spaniard, who will have to drive at a different team next season. His teammate Charles Leclerc finished second, and Norris third. The Briton posed for a photo with his former teammate after the race. Norris immediately drew conclusions from the Spaniard's victory.

"Gonna go get my appendix removed. Apparently you do it and you win a race soooooo... congrats Carlitos", the McLaren driver wrote on Instagram. The picture shows the two drivers together pointing at Sainz's stomach, which has a huge plaster over it.

Sainz overtook Max Verstappen during the race, who had to retire moments later due to problems with the RB20. The Dutchman literally saw his race go up in smoke. Sainz crossed the line in first position afterwards, and the Ferrari driver was the celebrated man at the third Grand Prix of the Formula 1 season.
