During the second free practice session in Saudi Arabia, it was Fernando Alonso who topped the timesheet. The session was rather messy, partly because FP2 started 10 minutes later due to a loose drain cover. The track was not orderly either, and Lewis Hamilton had to return to the pits five minutes before the end of the session.

This is the reason Hamilton came in!

The Englishman, from Stevenage, began to struggle with engine problems from his W15. On team radio, he explained: "I'm coming in mate, I've run out of power." Earlier in practice, Hamilton hindered Williams driver Logan Sargeant. As a result, the seven-time world champion had to report to the stewards after the practice session.
Hamilton was recently very enthusiastic about his W15. He said he thought it was a good race car. During the first two free practice sessions in the Middle East, things did not go great for the driver who will drive for Ferrari next year. After FP2, Hamilton found himself in eighth place, just like he was a few hours earlier after FP1.
