Eddie Jordan would not be surprised if Liam Lawson dírectly gets into a Red Bull car in the future. He is impressed by the 21-year-old New Zealander, just as Oscar Piastri can also charm him immensely.

In Singapore, Lawson scored his first two points in Formula 1; a week later in Japan, there was an 11th-place finish for the talented driver. Based on his performances in the AlphaTauri, Lawson deserves a permanent place in the king class of motorsport, according to Jordan.

In the Formula for Success podcast, the former F1 team owner further says: "And, in my opinion, if you are going to change Checo Perez, I would change them for somebody absolutely new who has a really bright future," Jordan thinks Lawson - like Sebastian Vettel in the past - will need very few races at the sister team to be immediately competitive at Red Bull. "Lawson has that ability [too]. I think he, either next year or the year after, should wind up in Red Bull."

Piastri

Red Bull should therefore, in the 75-year-old former driver's view, give Lawson the chance. If he had his way, however, he might still have gone all out to put Oscar Piastri in the RB20. Now that the rookie has extended his contract at McLaren mid-term, that (certainly not now) seems out of the question.

"I think Piastri is the real deal. Full marks to McLaren, they've signed him 'til '26 because they needed to because he will be a very sought-after driver. If I was in Red Bull, and I was thinking of replacing Checo, he'd be the one I'd have in my mind."
