Rain is forecast to fall during the Dutch Grand Prix weekend. As the event has got closer, the chance of rain during the Dutch GP weekend has increased. Drivers and teams haven't experienced rain at the Zandvoort circuit before, and that could create some interesting results. The line the drivers take at the banked corners will be something to look out for.

Rain has hit the last seven Grands Prix weekends, playing a major part on Saturday in Montreal, Spielberg and Silverstone. It also rained during the Grand Prix in Monaco and at various points in Barcelona. Rain fell on the Friday of the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend, but it stayed away from the meaningful sessions. And the Belgian Grand Prix lived up to its recent reputation with a mix of wet/dry conditions.

What is the weather forecast for the Dutch Grand Prix weekend?

On Friday, teams and drivers will make their first on-track appearance following the sport's traditional summer break period. Conditions are set to dry up in the afternoon. When practice starts at 12:30 local time, there is just a 7% chance of rain. There is even a suggestion that the sun will appear and temperatures will be around 20c. The conditions are set to remain the same for FP2, but the chance of rain increases to 24%. There is a high chance of rain on Saturday morning (80%), meaning any rubber that does get laid will be washed away.

On Saturday, the temperature drops to 18c, and the risk of showers remains. There is even a warning of some thunderstorms. FP3 starts at 11:30 local time when the chance of rain is at its highest (84%). FP3 could well be a washout. Qualifying is due to start at 15:00 local time, and this is when the risk of rain starts to reduce. By the end of qualifying, the sun is supposed to be shining. It seems likely we'll get another qualifying session on a drying track. More rain is set to fall overnight, and it's unclear when this will stop. Click here for the full session times
