Max Verstappen is credited with his third win of the season in Miami. The Red Bull Racing driver drove 45 laps on the hard tyre, laying the foundations for victory. Sergio Perez completed the Red Bull party by once again providing a one-two.
Verstappen had to come from the fifth row of the grid after a ninth fastest time in qualifying, but the Dutchman did not care at all. Within 15 laps he was already in second place, after which all he had to do was overtake Perez. He eventually succeeded, further extending his lead in the world championship.
Fernando Alonso scored another podium by crossing the finish line in third place. George Russell and Lewis Hamilton finished fourth and sixth, respectively on behalf of Mercedes. There were also two points for Ferrari and Alpine. The final point went to Kevin Magnussen starting from P4 in the Haas F1 car.
