It looks like it will soon become clear where Pierre Gasly will drive next year. The AlphaTauri driver hints that we will get a definitive answer in the next few weeks.
The rumour mill surrounding Gasly has been turning for a while now. The Frenchman basically just has a contract at AlphaTauri for next year, although it is still unclear whether he will actually drive there next season. Indeed, Gasly is often associated with Alpine, where a spot has suddenly become available after the whole situation with Alonso and Piastri.
Whether Gasly will actually go there depends entirely on how much space he gets from the Red Bull family. They reportedly do not want to let him go until they have a replacement ready for him, and that is by no means guaranteed yet. The main candidate would be Colton Herta, but his participation in Formula 1 is hampered by FIA rules around a super licence. Mick Schumacher is also often mentioned as a possible successor to Gasly, but Helmut Marko has already dismissed that.
Gasly himself seems at least pretty aware of the speculation surrounding his role, immediately confirming that his contract next year is not yet a fait accompli. At the press conference ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, he said, "Everyone knows that talks are taking place. Hopefully, in the next two or three weeks, we should have a clear answer on my future."
