Monaco GP results - RICCIARDO WINS!

Daniel Ricciardo has won the Monaco GP, completing his perfect weekend. Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton joined him on the podium. The Australian battled engine issues from early in the race to win his second race of the season.

Ricciardo led from pole into turn one and led every lap from Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton.

Ricciardo had to battle engine problems for almost the whole race but Vettel could not catch him. The German had his own problems, with graining on the ultrasoft tyres.

Hamilton and Raikkonen also suffered the same problems, which left the field spaced apart, without much action in the top five.

Max Verstappen produced a mature drive to come home in P9 from the back of the grid, after a crash in FP3 caused him to start in 20th. The Dutchman produced some daring overtakes, particularly around the outside of Carlos Sainz at the Nouvelle chicane.

There was more action in the same place, when Charles Leclerc, in his home race, had left brake failure and collided into the back of Brendon Hartley in a very messy crash. There was a VSC, but it came ultimately too late for anyone to switch to a two-stop and challenge Ricciardo.

It is his seventh Grand Prix win, and surely his most special.

Fernando Alonso failed to continue his streak of points, as he had to retire with gearbox issues. This is the first race he has failed to score points in this season.

Verstappen pressured Hulkenberg and Gasly late in the race, but they managed to just hold on for Toro Rosso and Renault respectively.

Carlos Sainz completed the top ten, making it a successful weekend for Renault as they extend their advantage over McLaren in the constructors' standings.
