Sebastian Vettel will retire from Formula 1 at the end of the season. It causes Franz Tost to have a lot of memories, he told Formula1.com, because the current AlphaTauri team principal was close to Vettel in his early years.

"When he came then to us, he brought in fresh blood, new ideas," Tost remembers. "He was very demanding and asking many questions. He went into details, which is very important, and he was always in a good mood, although we had at the beginning some problems with the car, but he pushed the team forward, and as a result, he won, together with Scuderia Toro Rosso in those days, the race in Monza."

After a successful period at Toro Rosso, Vettel made the switch to Red Bull Racing which had made some great strides. With Mark Webber as a teammate, the German fought out some great battles in the years that followed, with Vettel coming out on top every time.

While in 2009 it was Jenson Button who won the world championship with a difference of eleven points from Vettel, it was then the turn of the latter driver. From 2010 to 2013 he won all the world titles with Red Bull.

Tost saw Vettel perform well in Ferrari days

He then moved to Ferrari where he could not quite live up to expectations. Nevertheless, Tost points out that Vettel often showed what he was capable of in the car of the Italian team. According to Tost he can look back on a great career.
