Earlier in the season, George Russell, Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz repeatedly expressed their concerns about the new generation of Formula One cars and the potential physical consequences of porpoising. Sebastian Vettel is also concerned about the health risks of the current cars, but those concerns are of a completely different nature.

After the Austrian Grand Prix, Vettel voiced his concerns about brake dust, which has been spilling into the cockpit to a greater extent since this year. This is said to be due to the design of the new generation of F1 cars, which requires the airflow from the carbon brake discs to be blown straight backwards rather than through the wheels and outwards.

Vettel expresses health concerns

"That's something they need to work on, because the design of the brake ducts this year blows all this brake dust in our faces and that's not good," the Aston Martin driver said in conversation with Sky Sports. "Breathing in carbon dust is not really healthy. I hope the FIA looks at this soon, because it's unnecessary and easy to change."

Motorsport.com reports that the FIA is taking the issue seriously and has put it on the agenda of the next meeting of the Sporting Advisory Committee, to see what action can be taken to improve the problem.
