'Williams investors want replacement for Latifi because of performance'

After Williams seemed to have found its way towards the midfield in 2021, this season they are nevertheless back at the back, along with Aston Martin. Thanks to Alexander Albon, the team have managed to secure a point, although they are still last in the constructors' championship after four races.

According to Ralf Schumacher, this is mainly due to the lesser performance of Nicholas Latifi. The Canadian is currently driving his third Formula One season, but this season he has been mostly known for his crashes at crucial moments in a race. Schumacher explains at Sky Deutschland that the Canadian must show what he is capable of, if it is up to the team.

"The Williams investors want two strong drivers in the car. Albon is doing a great job and the difference to Latifi is very, very big." So if it is up to the investors of the British team, there will be a driver change this season, Schumacher expects.

"There are a lot of exciting things happening in Formula 1 right now and one of them could be a driver change this year." Schumacher does not yet know how to name a concrete replacement, but he has an inkling. "Piastri would be a perfect choice. If he doesn't deserve the seat, who does?"
