Spanish talents finished in all but one podium position in Moto2 and Moto3 during the season-opening round in Thailand.

Moto2

After losing the Moto2 title to current LCR rider Diogo Moreira, Manuel Gonzalez won the opening round of the campaign.
Guevara took the lead off the line, but went terribly wide into Turn 3, and fell down to P4, which meant that Holgado got up to first place.
The session was red flagged after a scary incident involving David Alonso on Lap 3. The Colombian talent was conscious, and went for further medical checks due to pain in his arm. The team later announced that the checks showed no fractures.
Holgado did well on the restart to keep the lead, and Guevara also did better this time into Turn 3, moving up to second place after overtaking Ivan Ortola. An incident in the same corner also caused a second red flag after Luca Lunetta and Sergio Garcia crashed out. Both riders had to be stretchered off.
Holgado's third start was once again flawless, but Guevara took the lead into Turn 3. Ortola lost two positions this time, as Gonzalez also got past him. A lap later, last year's second-placed rider in the standings also managed to overtake the Aspar rider.
Gonzalez took the lead on the final lap, and managed to hold on to take the first victory of the season ahead of Guevara, Holgado and Ortola. The top five were completed by Collin Veijer.

Moto3

David Almansa won the opening round of the Moto3 season, finishing just 0.003 seconds ahead of Maximo Quiles.
The two Spaniards began battling immediately during the opening lap, where they were joined by Adrian Fernandez and Alvaro Carpe. By Lap 7, that group was divided into two, as Almansa and Quiles built a gap to the rest, while Indonesian talent Veda Pretama and Valentin Perrone caught up to Fernandez and Carpe.
On Lap 11, Quiles did make a move for the lead, but a lap and a half later, Almansa was back in front. The Aspar rider did attempt a final maneouvre into the last corner, but in the end, Almansa managed to just finish ahead of his compatriot. The top three were rounded off by Perrone.
