A crash-filled timed practice at the Indonesian Grand Prix was topped by Raul Fernandez ahead of Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin.
The session got off to a delayed start due to a technical issue in Moto2, and then experienced around 10 yellow flag incidents.
Eventually, Fernandez mastered the conditions in a promising day for Aprilia. Championship leader Martin was happy with third, ahead of title rival Marc Marquez in fifth. Fernandez's 1'28.725 is also a new track record.
A difficult day for Marquez
Marquez looks like he may struggle for the podium, let alone a victory, but there was some good news for Ducati.

Teammate Francesco Bagnaia finished 10th, heading straight through to Q2 for the first time since the Dutch Grand Prix.
However, the gap between Aprilia and the rest was vast, with Pedro Acosta, the quickest non-Aprilia-powered bike, in fourth on his KTM, but almost two-tenths behind Martin in third, and six tenths off Fernandez at the top.
Ai Ogura failed to make it a perfect day for Aprilia, with a crash leaving him in 13th, while there was some good news for Yamaha.
Fabio Quartararo put his second factory bike seventh despite a painful crash, and Alex Rins and Jack Miller only narrowly missed out on the top 10.
