Marc Marquez has stated that his comeback from injury is 'not over' despite his historic 100th win at the Hungarian Grand Prix this past weekend. The nine-time world champion still has more left in the tank, it seems, despite rumours earlier in the year that this could be his final season in MotoGP.
After a dramatic fight with Pedro Acosta at the Balaton Park Circuit in Hungary, reigning world champion Marc Marquez was keen to stress that his recovery from injury is still ongoing after his nasty high-side at Le Mans earlier in the year. After undergoing surgery and missing out just two races, Marquez returned in Mugello with a heroic P7 finish, but on the much tighter, more technical Hungarian track, Marquez once again claimed the top step on the podium - his first Sunday victory of the 2026 season.
Following a huge crash on the opening lap which took out all but one of his title rivals on the very first corner, Marquez was left with only Acosta to bear, and after a back-and-forth duel with the young KTM star, Marquez claimed his 100th Grand Prix win across all classes.

'Now it's time to have more passion' says Marquez

"There have been a lot of ups and downs in my career, especially since 2020, but 100 wins is a big number." Marquez told the media after the race, "When you check pole position numbers, Championship numbers, I’m there between, close, in front, behind some big names and legends. I’ve done more than I expected in my career, and it’s been a lot of mental work. For that reason, I said that I've always pushed myself, but now it’s time to have more passion, and in Mugello, it was seventh, so we celebrated seventh place.
"When a fighter meets another fighter, the battle is there. We know that Pedro is super aggressive and is hard on braking; it was on the limit, we made contact like two or three times, but always with the correct amount of space.
"Another comeback, the comeback is still not finished because we won, but it was mainly left corners, there are only three right corners with hard braking points, which helped me breathe. But it’s true that we made another comeback and won again and took the 37 points."
