The Lenovo Race of Champions took place at the Misano World Circuit to celebrate Ducati's centenary with riders including Marc Marquez, Pecco Bagnaia, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Nicolo Bulega all taking part. It was a celebratory atmosphere at the renowned track as Ducati presented an all-star lineup for this year's race of champions. The field was deep with talent including MotoGP and WSBK champions and contenders, both past and present.
Just as he has done in WSBK this season, Nicolo Bulega once again made a statement of his intent to race in MotoGP next year. On equal Panigale V4 bikes, Bulega obliterated the competiton and secured both pole position and a comfortable race win ahead of the factory Ducati and VR46 MotoGP duo.
Although the race was not a serious, measured competiton, it will still go towards helping Bulega stake his claim in MotoGP next year, with many believing he may be involved in a swap deal with VR46's Franco Morbidelli.
While the MotoGP riders were clearly not racing with full intensity, Bulega didn't hold back. As the rider most used to the WSBK setup, it's not a huge surprise that he was able to win the event, meanwhile Marquez, Bagnaia, Di Giannantonio and Morbidelli seems more cautious in preserving themselves for the MotoGP German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring next weekend.
