Helmut Marko has revealed how the conversation with Max Verstappen went, in which the Austrian informed the Dutchman of his departure from Red Bull.
Looking back on the meeting with Max Verstappen, Helmut Marko confirms in an exclusive conversation with GPblog that the former world champion was emotional. Although, he wasn’t the only one: “Yes, me too. Let’s say we were melancholic,” said Marko.
Marko continued: “We made a resume and said what we achieved. We said we never would have thought or believed it would happen. Just the same with me. I also didn't believe when I first met him and signed him that we would have such a success," said Marko.

The now former advisor states that helping Max Verstappen grow into who he is today is his greatest success in Formula 1, greater than Sebastian Vettel. “And I don't think he is on the limit yet,” Marko stated.

'Verstappen can be champion again'

What more Verstappen can go on to achieve is written in the stars. Marko believes in bright times ahead for the Dutchman, as championships are certainly still possible for him in the future.
“ That's depending on what sort of material he has and the time he is still racing, so that's not particularly... If he has the right car, he can win another couple of championships," Marko said.
