Helmut Marko has quashed all speculation: he has no plans to return to Formula 1 in any role, not even as a pundit or journalist, he revealed in an exclusive interview with GPblog. It’s almost unimaginable – a Grand Prix without Helmut Marko in the Red Bull garage, staring firmly at the monitors. Yet, this is the reality Formula 1 fans will have to get used to.

Marko not planning F1 return
The Austrian has now fully stepped away from his duties with
Max Verstappen’s team. This is how it is, and will remain, though it may be hard for many to imagine someone so deeply involved in the sport for decades no longer being active. Even if Marko is already 82 years old.
“But I have other interests,” Marko explains to GPblog. “I have other businesses. Maybe I’ll come to one or two Grands Prix, but that’s it.”

Marko rules out a return as an F1 analyst
In the paddock, you can hardly move without bumping into former drivers who have become TV analysts or journalists. With his often spicy remarks, Marko would be an asset to any
F1 broadcaster, but that is a job the Austrian has no intention of pursuing.
“You’ll never see me running around with a microphone making interviews,” Marko laughs, closing that door in advance.
