The Nürburgring has reached the final phase of preparations for the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring and knows it will welcome an incredible number of fans this year. Max Verstappen’s participation caused the tickets to sell like hot cakes. Here’s how things are going behind the scenes at the organisation.
At the beginning of March, Verstappen announced his participation in the 24-hour race on the Nordschleife, and since then the interest in attending the spectacle in the Eifel has surged. The organisers of the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring also put together special orange tickets, as they anticipated many Dutch fans would be coming. Attendance for the 24-hour race is always massive, so the circuit is extremely well prepared for dealing with large numbers of spectators, but even so, had to limit the tickets available.
"This topic lies at the heart of the organiser, the ADAC, and the Nürburgring," spokesperson Alexander Gerhard explains. "It’s primarily about: how do I guide these people? Because we assume there will be many people coming to the Nürburgring for the first time." The Nürburgring is aware that two groups could emerge this year: an experienced group of race fans that has been coming for years, and a group gearing up for an ‘N24 initiation.’
"So we actually have a very experienced community that has been coming to the Nürburgring for years. They know exactly which part of the track they want to go to, where they want to camp, when they need to arrive to get a spot, how big an area they need to cordon off so their twenty friends can fit as well," Gerhard laughs. "With Max Verstappen now, we’re already assuming—although we can’t fully gauge it yet—that many people will also be coming to the Nürburgring for the first time."

'The 24 Hours of Nurburgring theme electrifies people'

For those people, it must be clear where they need to go to find their camping spot and where they can park: "The Nürburgring is, of course, enormously large," Gerhard continues. "We have about 25 kilometers of track, and you already have to find your way around here even when it’s not that busy. I think there’s no getting around it: there will be some traffic jams as well. That’s just how it is with events of this size," he notes.
"We’re simply looking at where there are extra camping areas and to what extent we can deliberately guide these people so that newcomers can find their way too. That’s an exciting task. You only know after the weekend whether everything worked as you had envisioned. We’re obviously preparing for that," says Gerhard, who expects a whole lot of enthusiastic fans seeing the spectacle with their own eyes for the first time.
"Starting from the N24 Qualifiers, there was a small build-up to the big 24-hour race. There were still four weeks to go, but you could already feel it: the Nürburgring theme, the 24-hour race theme, it electrifies people. Naturally, our communications are increasingly focused on this motorsport highlight. We’re now also seeing, thanks to Max Verstappen’s participation, that the topic is becoming even bigger."

280,000 people in 2025

The 24 Hours of the Nürburgring attracted nearly three hundred thousand people in 2025: "It was an enormous influx of visitors. That’s why it’s also an operational task on such a weekend to guide these people so that it becomes a good spectator experience. Day and night for 24 hours, on the toughest and most demanding circuit in the world. There’s really no more motorsport and passion than that."
