Three YouTubers have been arrested at the British Grand Prix on suspicion of damaging a displayed F1 car. Among the three streamers was Morgan Burtwistle, who is known as 'AngryGinge', who was has over 800k subscribers on YouTube and over 1.2 million followers on Instagram.
Together with him, streamers 'Chazza', real name Charlie Clark, and 'SamHam', real name Samuel Imie, were also arrested. They were all accused of damaging a Racing Point car.
A Northamptonshire Police's spokesperson told
TalkSport:
"On Friday, July 4, Northamptonshire Police received a report that a classic Formula 1 car on display at Silverstone Circuit during the British Grand Prix event had sustained several thousands of pounds worth of damage, which was alleged to have been caused by someone accessing the display stand and climbing into the vehicle.""Officers carried out initial inquiries, and suspects were identified. Three men, aged 23, 25 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage to a vehicle and taken into police custody,"
"Following a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the incident, all three men were released with no further action."
To the BBC, a Silverstone spokesperson confirmed 'AngryGinge' was handed a trespass notice, banning him from the rest of the weekend.
The YouTuber has since posted a video titled 'I Got ARRESTED At F1 Silverstone' explaining his side of the story, claiming he was 15 hours in custody.
Steering wheel also stolen in Silverstone
In a separate case, the Northamptonshire Police has released CCTV footage of a person "they wish to speak to following the theft of a steering wheel from a classic Formula 1 car."
