After the 24h Nurburgring, Max Verstappen's GT3 team suffered another DNF at a second iconic 24-hour race, with the No. 3 Verstappen Racing car failing to finish the 24 Hours of Spa on Sunday. While Verstappen scored his second podium of the Formula 1 season and was in contention for victory with Red Bull Racing, his GT3 team in Belgium endured a difficult race.
The No. 3 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo was driven by Daniel Juncadella, Jules Gounon and Chris Lulham at the Circuit de
Spa-Francorchamps. After qualifying third with Gounon at the wheel, the team was forced to retire the car overnight.
The team wrote on social media: "Unfortunately, our car #3 has retired from the 24 Hours of Spa due to a loss of power. A component was damaged in an incident during the night, compromising the engine’s supply system and ultimately causing it to overheat."
Gounon disappointed after another DNF
Gounon wrote after the race on social: "Sometimes the only thing you can do is keep showing up. It hurts when you give everything and keep coming away empty-handed, but that's part of racing. Another DNF. we gave it our all, it just wasn't meant to be. Huge thanks to Dani Juncadella and Chris Lulham and the whole Verstappen Racing and Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. We'll keep pushing. Thanks for sticking with us through tough times."
This comes after that at the 24h Nurburgring, the Dutchman's team also suffered a DNF because of a car issue. There, with around four hours remaining, a driveshaft issue brought the Dutchman's team's hopes to a heartbreaking end.
In the end, The 79th edition of the 24 Hours of Spa was won by the no. 80 Lionspeed GP Porsche car, driven by Bastian Buus, Ricardo Feller, and Thomas Preining.

Verstappen enjoys successful weekend in F1
Thanks to the updates to the RB22, Verstappen was once again able to fight for the victory at the Austrian Grand Prix.
After the race,
the Dutchman said:
"I think what was satisfying is that this was the first time I felt like actually I could fight for the win. I do think that the first half of the race, we were more competitive, because for whatever reason in the second half, something felt off on the rear of the car, where everything was just extremely difficult, from bumps, kerbs, traction, it was just completely gone. So that’s something that we need to understand again, what went wrong there. But yes, the first half I felt really good."
