With speculation swirling over Max Verstappen's F1 future, GPblog readers have had their say on where the Dutchman could end up should he leave Red Bull in 2027. Unhappiness with the 2026 regulations, the loss of key allies at Red Bull, and an "
undriveable" RB22 have compounded to make Verstappen's future anything but clear.
GPblog have previously reported that staying in Milton Keynes appears to be an option that clearly ranks
below several other possibilities. However, former F1 driver and Sky Sports pundit Martin Brundle has questioned whether it would "
that easy" for Verstappen to find a
top seat at another team, owing to the sheer level at talent currently in the sport.
Brundle said:
"I'm not sure it's that easy for Max to just jump ship at the moment. Mercedes have got two homegrown talents in their car in Russell and Antonelli. McLaren are set fair with a tremendous line-up that gels very much, Ferrari with Leclerc and Hamilton."'Any team can make way for Max'
And so, GPblog readers were asked where Verstappen could go - does he join Mercedes, McLaren, or Ferrari, or will he remain with Red Bull for 2027?
The poll results are in, and reveal that 48% of fans believe Verstappen will stay at Red Bull beyond the end of this season, with the next most likely scenario being that he moves to Mercedes at 33%.
Interestingly, despite losing his trusted race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase to McLaren in 2028, only 4% believe Verstappen will follow him to the Woking team.
Regardless, when you take a look at comments from GPblog readers, the general consensus disagrees with Brundle's view, arguing instead that Verstappen would be able to join any team he'd like in 2027.
"Any team can make way for Max, just like Ferrari did for Hamilton."
"I don't think there are any teams in the F1 today that will say no if Max says that he is willing to driver for them.Even teams like Mercedes, McLaren or Ferrari which have two highly rated and skilled drivers, the TP will find a way to put him in one of their seats if Max says he wants to drive for the team."
"Max is certainly interesting to all teams, both as a driver and as a marketer. All four combinations are possible."
'If Max Verstappen becomes available, then you have to go for it'
Ralf Schumacher seemingly agrees with
GPblog readers, arguing that McLaren have to take any opportunity they may have
to secure Verstappen's services.Speaking on the Backstage Boxengasse podcast, Schumacher said: "
McLaren is a very good team and has one of the best engines in Formula 1."
"Zak Brown has already tried this before, that was something people in the paddock already knew. And of course, if Max Verstappen becomes available, then you have to go for it."
