This weekend the IndyCar will run two races. In Detroit, two races will be driven on Saturday and Sunday and on Saturday night the first race already caused quite some spectacle. There was a hard crash and the race was stopped for a long time. Marcus Ericsson eventually won, followed by Dutchman Rinus van Kalmthout. He also made a jump in the rankings.
The 40 points he scored in the first race allow him to move up to fourth place in the championship. Alex Palou leads the championship, after a victory in the first race and a second place in the Indy 500. Pato O'Ward, who finished third behind Van Kalmthout, also moved up a spot thanks to a good result on Saturday. He is now second, followed by Scott Dixon.
Behind Dixon is then Van Kalmthout, with IndyCar veterans Simon Pagenaud and Josef Newgarden behind him. Marcus Ericsson climbs to seventh place in the championship thanks to his victory. On Sunday, the drivers will take to the track again in Detroit, before travelling to Road America for another race weekend.
