Max Verstappen knows from which position he will start the British Grand Prix. The reigning world champion set a second fastest time in qualifying at Silverstone and will need to move up a place if he is to finish first for the seventh time this season.
Carlos Sainz will try to take his first-ever win in Formula 1 from pole position. The Ferrari driver was too fast for Verstappen in the rain Saturday afternoon. Verstappen is in a sandwich with the Ferrari's, because in his mirrors he immediately sees Charles Leclerc. The Dutchman may well hope for help from stablemate Sergio Perez from P4.
The third row of the grid is all British with Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris. Daniel Ricciardo, his teammate, was again unable to break through with fourteenth place. The same goes for Esteban Ocon. The Frenchman will start 15th, while Fernando Alonso has a much better starting position with a P7.
