Up to eight spectators were taken to the hospital after a motorbike rider crashed into a crowd on the opening day of practice at the Isle of Man TT.
Organisers confirmed the incident took place at the exit to Parliament Square in Ramsey and involved a single competitor and multiple spectators. The incident prompted a halt to the session, with the organisers throwing in the red flag, and immediately activating serious incident procedures.
The injured spectators were reported to be conscious and were transported to Nobles Hospital in Braddan for further assessment and treatment, according to race organisers. The rider, who has not been identified, also sustained injuries to his legs but was conscious and able to speak at the scene. “In accordance with the event’s standard operating procedures, an investigative process is now underway involving race, medical and safety personnel,” a statement by the organisers read.
Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson later confirmed the remainder of the day’s schedule was cancelled as incident management continued. The 2026 TT, held on closed public roads across the 37.7-mile Snaefell Mountain Course, is set to run until June 6.
