The lead that Charles Leclerc had over Max Verstappen has been turned into a 49-point deficit by the latter at lightning speed. The Ferrari driver acknowledges that he would have preferred not to be in this position, but he is still 100 percent confident in his chances of winning the 2022 World Championship.

Leclerc faces tough task

The Drivers currently have nine Grands Prix behind them, seven of which went to Red Bull. Twice Leclerc drew the longer straw with Ferrari: in Bahrain and Australia. The last victory will date back to three months ago when we arrive at Silverstone.
Speaking to the Italian side of Motorsport.com Leclerc says: "Of course, definitely. I always go to bed thinking that the title is within our reach." The young Monegasque agrees that it won't be easy. He sees that other teams are also having problems with the reliability of the car and that this could potentially be advantageous for his chances. However, he emphasizes that his main focus is on himself and Ferrari.
What might also start helping Leclerc is Mercedes' return to the top in Formula 1. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell showed good speed in Canada. If they can keep up that form, they may be able to start snatching points from Red Bull Racing in time.
