On a wet track in Michigan, the RedBud National certainly tested the skills of the world's best riders in the fifth round of the 2026 AMA Pro Motocross season.
In the 450 class, KTM's Jorge Prado took the holeshot in Moto 1 ahead of the Lawrence brothers, while Haiden Deegan suffered a first turn crash along with Aaron Plessinger who was injured in the process. Jett Lawrence then pulled off a phenomenal pass and cleared off into the lead while Prado then fell behind Hunter, but hung onto 3rd place. Hunter then chased down his brother and made a move towards the end and was just corners away from claiming a victory when he crashed and Jett passed him back again.
In the second Moto, a big pile up at the back took down a number of riders and Deegan managed to get past both Lawrence brothers at the start. Jett then crashed on the second lap while trying to pass Deegan, and then fell down a second time while trying to recover positions. Prado cleared away in front and Deegan put in a solid effort, but was unable to keep Hunter Lawrence behind. Hunter then astonishingly cut down a 9-second gap in just a handful of laps and managed to pass Prado in a chaotic highlight move as a backmarker went down right in front of the pair. Deegan hung on for a comfortable 3rd place, while Jett Lawrence managed to recover to 5th.
New Zealand's Cole Davies continued his hot streak in the 250 class with a late overtake on his teammate Caden Dudney to win Moto 1. Meamwhile Honda's Jo Shimoda rounded out the podium ahead of Levi Kitchen on the Kawasaki.
Davies then took the holeshot in the second Moto, and just like in High Point, cleared away from the rest of the field, but Jo Shimoda managed to catch and pass him to claim his first Moto win of the year, while Davies retained the overall win. Ryder Di Francesco also took his first Pro Motocross podium, and a special mention should go to Casey Cochran who also showed that he belongs at the top level. It was a weekend to forget for KTM's Julien Baumer who crashed out of both 250 races, meanwhile Levi Kitchen will also be disappointed.
