Max Verstappen managed to grab his 12th pole position in his Formula 1 career on Saturday. On the Circuit of the Americas the RB16B came to life in qualifying and Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes had no answer.

Valtteri Bottas set the fourth-fastest time, but a grid penalty will push him five places further back. The drivers benefiting from this are Ferrari, McLaren and Pierre Gasly. Of the top ten, Yuki Tsunoda and Carlos Sainz will start on softs at the lights. The other drivers will start on the mediums.
