For a moment, Fernando Alonso seemed to have a good chance at third place. He briefly came within a second, but the Spaniard could not push through in his Aston Martin. What remained for him was fourth place. Carlos Sainz, Lewis Hamilton, Lance Stroll and George Russell lined the top-eight. The remaining points went to Lando Norris and Yuki Tsunoda.

For Nyck de Vries, there were again no points. He crashed out, as in Australia. So his teammate Yuki Tsunoda did manage to score another point for AlphaTauri, his second of the year. The fastest race lap went to George Russell, who made a late pit stop and secured the extra World Cup point via softs.
