The first five and a half hours of the 24 Hours of Le Mans were very chaotic. With hard rain and many crashes, there was plenty of spectacle early in the race. GPblog lists all the events of the first hours.

Events so far

After only an hour and a half from the start of the race, there was a hard crash. Rodrigo Sales lost his Nielsen Racing car with start number 14 in Turn 1, after which he hit the wall hard.
After almost three hours, heavy rain fell in certain parts of the track. Many cars flew off the track due to the slippery conditions. There was also damage to the crash barriers, prompting a safety car to come out.
This safety car was on the track for no less than an hour and 20 minutes. Almost 20 minutes after the restart, there was another slow zone after the Porsche Penske Motorsport with start number 6 punctured its tyre. The slow zone was short-lived, however, and after a pit stop, the Porsche was able to continue on its way.

Meanwhile, the track was also a spectacle. In the hypercar class, almost all teams were leading at some point, but the Ferrari with start number 51 is in the lead in the hypercar class. That could have been different, as Team Hertz JOTA was leading the race, but had a crash.
