AlphaTauri is a dangerous outsider for a high ranking in the World Championship in 2021. The AT02 is a big step up from last season's car, with Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda it has two talented drivers on board. There are even aerodynamic updates already in the pipeline.
"We will have some new things in Imola, in Portugal and in Spain. We're building it up incrementally. But by the time we get to Spain we should have made a nice leap forward," said Jody Egginton in conversation with Motorsport.com. The Grand Prix at the Barcelona circuit is the fourth of the season.
AlphaTauri is currently fifth in the World Constructors' Championship. Yuki Tsunoda managed to score two points in his debut in Bahrain. Pierre Gasly had a great starting position with a fifth place on the grid, but a touch in the opening stages of the race made points impossible from the outset.

Honda engine

The Honda engine is a big step forward on the engine front. The Japanese will retire after this season, but during the winter they have done everything possible to present a powerful power unit at the start of the season. The difference with Mercedes has been reduced a lot and that's good for AlphaTauri who have to battle with teams like Aston Martin and McLaren (both with Mercedes engines).
