It's messed up at Ferrari. At the beginning of 2020 it became clear that there was something wrong with the engine of the Italians and since then they have been a lot slower on the straight. As a result, real performance is lacking, apart from the second place of Charles Leclerc in the first Grand Prix of the season. Despite the inferior performance, Ferrari's management keeps hope in Mattia Binotto.
That's what Autosport says. According to insiders, it's the other way around and management wants to help track down the problems. The focus is now on solving those problems and helping Binotto's mission. What is clear is that Binotto's mission is now failing, with disappointing performance in the 2020 season.

Possible successor

Italian media have already mentioned several names as a possible successor of Binotto. The name of Antonello Coletta is frequently mentioned. Coletta is the head of the GT Sport team of Ferrari and according to Italian media there may be another change within the F1 team this year. Still they expect Ferrari to keep faith in Binotto.
Ferrari CEO Louis Camilleri also doesn't think it is necessary to intervene now, in the first few races of the season. Autosport itself indicates that it is very risky to put down a team boss with very little experience in F1. In any case, there is still plenty of work to do for Binotto and his team, since the backlog with Red Bull Racing and Mercedes is still huge.
