Aston Martin reshapes structure with Newey as team principal - not CEO

In the new structure, Aston Martin has opted for a reorganisation where there is no longer a requirement for a CEO.

As executive chairman of the board, Lawrence Stroll will continue to lead the business side of the team.

In effect, the team’s responsibilities are being redistributed, with Stroll remaining as the team's ultimate leader.

Historically, team principals of Formula 1 teams are the face of the organisation, including when it comes to facing the media. However, GPblog has learned that in 2026 Aston Martin will choose to alternate the senior management team who speak to the media - including Newey. The plans for having multiple voices is at odds with other teams and means that Newey will not solely be responsible.

Last season, Mike Krack - alongside Cowell - was one of the regular media contacts for the team. When Cowell was not present at a Grand Prix, Krack (himself a former Aston Martin team principal) stood in for the Briton.

Earlier on Wednesday it was announced that Adrian Newey is the new team principal of Aston Martin. The Briton has since given an initial reaction.
