Fans get to see the best version of Verstappen
The fact that Verstappen competes at the Nordschleife while still active in Formula 1 is hugely significant.
'Prime Max' is essential. He is at his peak right now, having won four
F1 titles in a row and proving again in 2025 that with the right material, he can dominate weekends.
Many former F1 drivers tested themselves in other series, but often struggled for results past their prime. But with Verstappen, you tune in to see arguably the best to ever do it, expecting to see his magic.
Verstappen walks the walk
While he brings many fresh eyes to GT racing this weekend at the Nordschleife, the Dutchman also steals the show with the results on track.
He is quietly working toward
his dream of competing in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, which could already be possible next season as the event will not clash with a Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The Dutchman also takes no shortcuts. He did not demand to receive a permit because he is a Formula 1 world champion, but competed in a GT4 car with less power two weeks ago.
It's not a gimmick. He is not participating because of a contract or a sponsor, but because of his passion. He does it all while focusing on his own Verstappen.com Racing team.
Thanks to his presence, many fans can find the beautiful world of GT racing. Verstappen brings attention and adds spice to the category's reputation and his passion can help this type of racing grow immensely over the years to come.
He has frequently spoken about planning for life after F1 and it might be that he is currently laying the foundation stones for his exit. For the meantime, however, it is great we can enjoy him competing in two classes and accelerate the growth of endurance racing.
