There is no further investigation from the stewards on Mercedes for a breach in the sporting regulations. Both
George Russell and
Andrea Kimi Antonelli will receive no further action after an alleged breach of Article 40.1 of the Sporting Regulations.
The two Mercedes drivers seemed to have failed to submit a setup sheet within the required time limit.
The reason for the stewards decision
The Stewards heard from the team representative of Car 63 (George Russell).
After qualifying, the Stewards said in a statement: "Although the FIA did not receive the setup sheet electronically in the specified time, the team was able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Stewards, with copies ofthe relevant emails, that the sheet had been emailed to the appropriate FIA department but due to some IT security issue it was not received in the specified time.
"Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 4 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits. Decisions of the Stewards are taken independently of the FIA and are based solely on the relevant regulations, guidelines and evidence presented."
The stewards said as of Antonelli's investigation, who also went without a punishment after qualifying for the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Russell qualified fourth on the grid in Las Vegas while Antonelli got knocked out in Q1 and will start the race near the back of the field.
